This movie shows a scan through the lumbar region (L3 to L6) of an adult spinal cord 2 hr after a unilateral heat stimulation of the left hind paw. C-fos-positive neurons can be seen in the dorsal horn on the left side at the levels of the L4 and L5 dorsal roots, ipsilateral to the stimulation, but also in deeper interneurons.
